Although neither Electronic Arts (EA) nor developer DICE have officially confirmed the reports, a growing number of dataminers and insiders believe that the rumored mode could debut on October 28, 2025, coinciding with the launch of Season 1 content.
Rumors began circulating after a well-known data miner uncovered a reference to an unannounced content drop within the EA Play app. This mysterious listing—bearing the codename “Granite”—was reportedly scheduled for the same day as the Season 1 rollout but appeared separate from the standard update roadmap. The discovery has led many within the community to suspect that “Granite” refers to a standalone Battle Royale expansion.

Industry insider ModernWarzone added further credibility to the theory, noting that the date aligns closely with earlier leaks hinting at a late-October reveal. The timing appears strategic: Season 1, titled “Rogue Ops,” begins on October 28, followed by additional content drops on November 18 and December 9. Unlike those updates, the “Granite” release seems to exist outside the normal schedule, suggesting a potential “shadow drop” reminiscent of Call of Duty: Warzone’s surprise launch in 2020.
If true, Battlefield’s new mode could introduce several innovative twists to the genre. Early reports describe an unforgiving “storm barrier” that instantly eliminates players on contact, upping the tension compared to the shrinking zones in Warzone or Fortnite. The mode is also rumored to support Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads, alongside a new competitive feature called “Gauntlet.” In this mode, teams reportedly battle across dynamic missions, with underperforming squads eliminated after each round until only one remains.
