Starting August 5, PlayStation Plus members will get access to three big titles: Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2. Along with these monthly games, Sony is also giving away a special set of free avatars to celebrate the 15th anniversary of PlayStation Plus. This month’s lineup offers something for every kind of player — from twisted fairy tales and survival horror to anime action.
Playstation Plus August 2025 Free games: What’s in store?
PlayStation Plus members can download and play three new titles this August without any extra cost. Each brings a unique world and gameplay style:
Lies of P (PS5, PS4) – A dark twist on Pinocchio
This Soulslike action RPG takes the story of Pinocchio and flips it on its head. In Lies of P, you step into the shoes of a puppet fighting to become human. Your journey takes you through the city of Krat, now overrun by madness and killer puppets. You’ll use brutal weapons, powerful Legion Arms, and even lies to make your way through the chaos and discover the truth behind Geppetto’s disappearance. It’s creepy, stylish, and packed with punishing combat.
DayZ (PS4) – Survive the infected apocalypse
DayZ drops you into a post-apocalyptic world with one rule: survive. There are no checkpoints, no saves, and death means starting over. Explore massive open-world maps like Chernarus and Livonia, scavenge for supplies, and fight off both infected enemies and other players. Whether you’re teaming up or going solo, trust is hard to come by in this tense survival experience.
My Hero One’s Justice 2 (PS4) – Anime battles go next level
Based on the popular anime My Hero Academia, this 3D fighter lets you step into the shoes of your favourite heroes and villains. Use Quirks in fast-paced, flashy battles across wide arenas. Whether you’re a fan of Deku, All Might, or Shigaraki, there’s a character for every playstyle. The sequel adds even more fighters, moves, and story content for anime fans to enjoy.
Celebrate 15 years of PlayStation Plus with free avatars
Sony is continuing its celebration of 15 years of PlayStation Plus, which first launched in June 2010. As part of the anniversary, a new set of avatars will be available for free starting August 5. These exclusive avatars feature popular games like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, God of War Ragnarök, and Twisted Metal. They’re available at no extra cost to all PS Plus subscribers.
Adam Michel, PlayStation’s Director of Game Services, confirmed the drop and hinted at more surprises in the works as the anniversary celebrations continue.
Don’t miss the July games before they’re gone
Before the new lineup goes live, members still have time to grab last month’s titles. Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant will remain available on the service until August 4. After that, they’ll be removed from the monthly catalog, so make sure to add them to your library before they disappear.
This month’s PlayStation Plus drop mixes horror, heroics, and haunting tales. Whether you’re into dark fantasy, survival gameplay, or anime battles, August has something worth playing. Don’t forget to claim the free avatars before they’re gone, and dive into these new games starting August 5.
