Yakuza Kiwami 3 remake and Dark Ties spin-off headline 2026 release slate

The release also includes Dark Ties, a prequel exploring antagonist Yoshitaka Mine’s backstory. Alongside this, Sega is re-releasing Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut across PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch 2 during the holiday season, ensuring fans have plenty of crime-drama action to enjoy.

Yakuza Kiwami 3

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the developer behind the Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, is gearing up for an eventful holiday season and a packed start to 2026 with multiple releases. The studio has confirmed that its celebrated remake series is expanding further, headlined by Yakuza Kiwami 3 and an all-new spin-off, Dark Ties, launching February 12, 2026.

A remake of the 2009 classic, Yakuza 3, the new installment brings a complete overhaul in visuals, combat, and storytelling. Players will step back into the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu, now equipped with a fresh weapon-based fighting style rooted in Okinawan martial arts. Beyond combat, the game introduces expanded side stories, new cutscenes, and immersive features such as a life-simulation mode at Kiryu’s orphanage, Morning Glory. Fans can also expect updated mini-games, additional karaoke tracks, and a new team battle system involving Kiryu’s motorcycle gang.

What’s New

Perhaps the most intriguing addition is Dark Ties, a prequel campaign focusing on antagonist Yoshitaka Mine’s rise to power in Kamurocho. This gritty spin-off adds new mission-based challenges, survival battles in an underground fight club, and further enriches the overarching narrative.

Preorders for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties are live across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, priced at $60. The PC version is currently discounted on Fanatical, with the standard edition available for $52.79 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $66. Deluxe buyers will also receive cosmetic DLC, gang outfit customizations, and bonus in-game music. A preorder bonus grants access to Ichiban Kasuga, the Like a Dragon protagonist, as a recruitable gang member.

Price

The holiday season will also see the return of other series favorites. On December 8, Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 will arrive as a bundle on PS5 and Xbox Series X for $60. Nintendo Switch 2 owners can purchase the two titles separately for $35 each. That same day, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut expands beyond its Switch exclusivity, launching on PlayStation and Xbox.
