A recent leak has sparked speculation that Sony may be preparing to roll out new features for the PlayStation 5, including a potential cross-buy option and an “echo mode”. The leak, which surfaced online earlier this week, reportedly revealed several unused PS5 store icons not present in the PlayStation 4’s system database.
According to social media user Amethxst, the new icons appeared in the PS5 and PSN databases between March and November 2025. Among them were a “PS5/PC” symbol, possibly indicating titles available on both platforms, and a “Cross-Buy” icon suggesting users could purchase a game once and access it across devices. Other symbols in the leak include charging indicators and icons tied to cloud save functionality and DualSense touchpad compatibility.

While Sony has not commented on the leak, screenshots and a video shared by Amethxst appear to confirm the existence of the icons within the PS5 interface. If genuine, these updates could align Sony’s strategy more closely with Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, which allows shared access between PC and console versions of games.
The PlayStation 5 has sold over 80 million units globally, cementing its position as one of Sony’s best-performing consoles since its 2020 debut. As the company continues to expand its game catalog across PC and PS5 platforms, these potential new features could further strengthen the PlayStation ecosystem.
