Pokémon GO trainers, mark your calendars! Mega Gyarados will be the star of a special Raid Day event on Sunday, August 31, 2025, bringing boosted raid rewards, exclusive bonuses, and an increased chance to encounter its shiny form.
The event runs from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, giving players a three-hour window to challenge Mega Gyarados and stock up on rewards.
Event Highlights
- Date & Time: Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
•Shiny Chance: Increased opportunity to encounter Shiny Mega Gyarados.
•Raid Passes: Up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (six total).
•Remote Raiding: Remote Raid Pass limit temporarily raised to 20, starting Saturday, August 30, 5:00 p.m. PDT, through Sunday, August 31, 8:00 p.m. PDT.
•Exclusive Move: Gyarados caught during raids will know Aqua Tail.

Featured Pokémon
Mega Gyarados will headline raids throughout the event. Trainers can expect to encounter Gyarados with the following CP ranges:
•1855–1937 CP (no weather boost)
•2319–2422 CP (boosted by Windy or Rainy weather)
Mega Gyarados is weak to Electric, Grass, Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-type attacks, giving trainers a wide range of effective counter options.

Ticketed Bonuses
A special Raid Day ticket priced at US$4.99 (or local equivalent) will unlock additional perks:
•Eight extra Raid Passes (14 total for the day)
•Higher chance to earn Rare Candy XL (for trainers level 31+)
•50% more XP from Raid Battles (stacking with Sunkissed Shores bonuses for a total of 3× XP)
•2× Stardust from Raid Battles
Tickets will be available in the in-game shop until the event ends.
Ultra Ticket Box
For the same price (US$4.99), players can opt for the Mega Gyarados Raid Day Ultra Ticket Box, which includes both the event ticket and a bonus Premium Battle Pass.
As with all Mega Raid bosses, trainers have the chance to encounter a shiny Gyarados. Gender differences are subtle, with whisker color variations visible in both the standard and shiny versions.
