Epic Games is finally addressing one of Fortnite players’ longest-standing complaints: the inability to buy the exact number of V-Bucks needed for in-game purchases. Starting October 14, the battle royale giant will roll out a new payment option that allows users to purchase the precise amount of V-Bucks required for an item, rather than being forced into pre-set bundles.
Fortnite Adds Exact V-Bucks Purchase Option
Popular Fortnite leaker Hypex broke the news, highlighting how this feature could save players both money and leftover virtual currency. Under the current system, a player who wants to buy a 3,600 V-Buck bundle — like the recently released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers set — is forced to either buy 2,800 V-Bucks (too few) or 5,000 V-Bucks (too many), often overspending by $9–14. The new option will eliminate this frustration by letting players purchase exactly 3,600 V-Bucks — or even just 100 or 200 if they’re only short by a small amount.

Epic Games is also adding a bonus for existing players. On October 10, all current V-Bucks balances will be rounded up to the nearest 50. For example, if you have 260 V-Bucks sitting unused, Epic will top it up to 300, giving players a small free boost.
However, there’s a notable limitation: the new feature won’t be available on PlayStation platforms at launch. Players on PS4 and PS5 will still be stuck with the old bundle-based purchase system unless they use the Fortnite web store as a workaround. Epic has stated it plans to bring the exact-purchase option “everywhere” eventually, but no timeline has been given for its PlayStation rollout.

The update is set to arrive just in time for the game’s annual Fortnitemares event, which is rumored to include crossover content from horror franchises like Silent Hill, Scooby-Doo, Scream, and Friday the 13th.
