Team Cherry has officially rolled out Hollow Knight: Silksong update 1.0.28650 to all players, ending its beta-only availability on Steam. This means that fans no longer need to opt into a test branch to download the latest version of the highly anticipated Metroidvania title.
The update carries a series of important fixes and adjustments, most notably addressing a long-standing issue with Savage Beastfly — one of the game’s most notorious optional bosses. According to the patch notes, a bug causing the boss to remain stuck beneath lava in the Far Fields has now been resolved.
All about Savage Beastfly Bug
Savage Beastfly has gained a near-infamous reputation within the Silksong community. Players frequently describe the encounter as one of the most punishing in the game, citing unpredictable attack patterns, questionable hitbox behavior, high damage output, and the ability to summon minions mid-fight. A dedicated subreddit with tens of thousands of weekly visitors even exists solely to discuss and vent about the boss, often sharing memes and fake “secret variant” sightings just to rile up other fans.
The encounter becomes even more difficult in its second phase, where destructible platforms and lava hazards are introduced. Many players had previously joked that the bug fix should have let the boss stay trapped in the magma “forever.”
In addition to the Savage Beastfly fix, the new patch introduces a dithering effect option in the video settings to reduce color banding, clarifies the Herald’s Wish achievement description, and addresses a series of rare issues involving boss battles, NPC dialogue, and item behavior. Several softlocks, hitbox errors, and out-of-bounds exploits have also been corrected.
With this patch now available to all players, Silksong fans can expect a smoother, more polished experience — though Savage Beastfly’s reputation as one of the game’s most hated encounters is likely to remain intact.
