Microsoft has announced the Wave 1 lineup for Xbox Game Pass in August 2025. The first half of the month brings eight games to the subscription service, including Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Rain World, and the return of Aliens: Fireteam Elite after nearly three years.
What’s coming to Xbox Game Pass in early August
The August 2025 Wave 1 list includes eight games. Four of them are brand-new to Game Pass. Rain World is already available as of August 5. On August 6, four more games join under the Standard tier: Citizen Sleeper 2, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, MechWarrior 5: Clans, and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage arrives on August 7 across all tiers—Standard, PC, and Ultimate. It supports cloud, console, and PC platforms. Aliens: Fireteam Elite returns to Game Pass on August 12, after being off the platform since December 2022. The lineup wraps up with 9 Kings, a PC-only game preview, on August 14.

No day-one Ultimate titles in Wave 1
This month’s lineup doesn’t include any day-one titles for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That isn’t unusual during summer, which tends to have fewer new releases. However, two day-one games—Herdling and Gears of War: Reloaded—are already confirmed for Wave 2 on August 21
Departures on August 15
Three games are leaving Game Pass on August 15: Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and Persona 3 Reload. These titles were listed in the Xbox app’s “Leaving Soon” section earlier this month.
What to expect from Wave 2
The Wave 2 lineup will be announced on August 19. It will include Herdling and Gears of War: Reloaded. The full list and additional removals will be shared then.
Even without day-one drops in the first half of the month, August’s Game Pass lineup features strong titles. Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the return of Aliens: Fireteam Elite should give subscribers plenty to look forward to while waiting for Wave 2.
