Battlefield lovers rejoice. The next game, Battlefield 6, will soon be releasing. EA and DICE are set to release the trailer of the same this week, on Thursday, July 24 at 8AM PT via the official Battlefield YouTube channel. A 48-hour countdown is already live, teasing fans with the promise of “the ultimate all-out warfare experience.”

On its official Twitter page (now X), the Battlefield team confirmed that an open beta is also on the way. While EA hasn’t announced an exact date, rumors—fueled by Reddit API leaks—suggest the beta could begin on August 4.

The game makers reportedly have been testing the new game at Battlefield Labs, where select players around the globe had early access to the upcoming shooter. Now, the broader community will get hands-on time, and EA appears to be using the beta not just to show off the game, but to gather feedback—particularly on one major sticking point: weapon systems.

According to a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Battlefield 6‘s open beta will feature two weapon playlist modes:

  • Closed Weapons: Signature weapons tied to specific classes (the traditional system).
  • Open Weapons: Free weapon access across all classes.

The move comes after months of debate, especially from longtime fans who prefer the classic class-based restrictions. DICE first introduced the open weapon system in March—a change met with pushback. After reiterating their plans in early July, the developers now appear to be testing a middle ground. “Why not both?” the post reads, confirming both options will be available during the beta.

The decision is earning praise from fans, with many calling it a smart move. “Great idea—after all, it’s a BETA. The best time to test something like this at scale,” one user commented.

That said, while both weapon systems will be available in the beta, EA hasn’t committed to which will appear in the final release. The hope is that community feedback during the beta will shape the final decision.

For now, fans should mark their calendars for July 24 at 8AM PT for the full reveal, and stay tuned for beta registration details soon after.

As for the official launch of Battlefield 6, EA has yet to confirm a release date. However, analysts expect the game to arrive sometime between October 2025 and March 2026, in line with EA’s typical launch window.
