Football Manager fans have finally got their first glimpse of FM26, after last year’s highly anticipated FM25 was delayed and eventually cancelled. Developer Sports Interactive says the new game will be its “most immersive” yet. FM25 was originally set to launch in November 2024, but Sports Interactive scrapped it in February, saying it was “too far away from the standards you deserve.” Fans who pre-ordered were refunded, and the studio shifted all resources toward the 2026 edition.
The Football Manager series, which debuted in 2004, has seen a yearly release until last year’s cancellation. The game puts players in charge of building and managing football teams, aiming for on-pitch glory.

Sports Interactive has now dropped a teaser on its social channels. The clip, narrated by legendary commentator Peter Drury, opens with: “The wait has been long. The build-up impossible to ignore. So much has changed, but that feeling? It never left.”

It ends with “Guess who’s back?” and promises a “match day first look” soon. A disclaimer notes that “not all footage appears in-game” and that visuals shown are not final, hinting at ongoing development work.
FM 26 New features and upgrades
FM26 will be the first game in the series to run on the Unity engine, aiming to modernise the 3D match engine. The teaser suggests life-like graphics, improved visuals, and a smoother interface.
Sports Interactive also confirmed that women’s teams will make their debut in FM26, alongside an official Premier League licence. Publisher SEGA says the game will “take players closer to the heart of the beautiful game” and “redefine storytelling potential” within the series.
