Team Cherry’s highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is proving to be a massive hit. According to a report from Alinea Analytics (via GameSpot), the metroidvania sequel has surpassed five million players across all platforms since launch.

More than one million of those players are on Xbox Game Pass for console, the report revealed. Interestingly, 78% of Silksong’s audience already owns the original Hollow Knight.

Player data also shows significant overlap with other challenging action titles — nearly half of Silksong’s Steam players have also played Elden Ring, while more than a third have played Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

For those seeking an even greater challenge, the game offers Steel Soul Mode, a brutal permadeath option designed for veteran players.

Noisy Pixel awarded it 9/10, calling it a “meticulously crafted metroidvania” with faster combat, deeper storytelling, and highly rewarding exploration — though some side quests were criticized for slowing the game’s pacing.
