Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is releasing on August 5, 2025. SEGA will publish the much anticipated continuation across multiple platforms, including PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. The sequel expands upon its predecessor by incorporating additional story arcs, new characters, and improved gameplay elements.
The narrative resumes immediately following the events of the first title, incorporating significant storylines from the anime series. Users will participate in the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training storylines. Players can control Tanjiro Kamado alongside other recognised characters whilst experiencing the intense and emotional sequences from the television series.
A significant enhancement appears in the versus Mode, now featuring 40 selectable fighters from the Demon Slayer series. Users can participate in dynamic 3D battles against computer-controlled opponents or other players through online and local multiplayer contests. The game accommodates 1-2 players and includes comprehensive online functionality for competitive gaming.

The Standard Edition is expected to cost $60 USD, whilst the Deluxe Edition, offering early access from August 1, may be priced at $70 USD. Physical copies will be distributed for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, with other platforms receiving digital releases exclusively. PC users will benefit from Steam Deck verification, ensuring optimal performance on the portable system, with the Steam version launching on August 5.
The initial Hinokami Chronicles received a “Very Positive” classification on Steam, supported by over 16,000 user assessments. Initial reactions to the sequel are favourable, maintaining a “Mostly Positive” status with a 78% average rating. The future direction of the Demon Slayer gaming series, including potential adaptations of the Infinity Castle arc, remains uncertain, though players shall soon experience this latest offering.
