Microsoft has expanded its Xbox Game Pass library with the addition of Dead Static Drive, a new day-one release described as a “Grand Theft Cthulhu”-style road trip survival horror game. Priced at $29.99, the title marks the third addition to Game Pass in November 2025 and the 192nd new inclusion this year.
Developed by Melbourne-based Reuben Games, Dead Static Drive takes players on a nightmarish journey across an alternate 1980s American Southwest, blending open-road exploration with Lovecraftian horror elements. Drawing inspiration from the works of T. E. D. Klein, David Lynch’s surrealism, and William Eggleston’s photography, the game follows protagonist Hearst as they search for their parents amid a world plagued by mysterious Eldritch monsters.
After nearly a decade in development, the game launched on November 5 across PC, consoles, and Xbox Game Pass. Currently, it is available through the PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate tiers. Its release coincides with Sniper Elite: Resistance moving up to the Premium tier of Xbox Game Pass, following its earlier debut as a day-one Ultimate title in January 2025.
Based on Microsoft’s recent tier-transition schedule, Dead Static Drive is expected to arrive on Xbox Game Pass Premium between May and November 2026. The company has previously committed to making day-one Ultimate titles available to lower tiers within a year of their release.
Alongside Dead Static Drive, several other titles are set to join the service throughout November, including Whiskerwood (Nov 6), Egging On (Nov 6), Voidtrain (Nov 7), Great God Grove (Nov 11), and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Nov 14). Microsoft is expected to announce a second wave of additions around mid-November.
Looking ahead, more than 25 day-one Game Pass titles are scheduled for 2026 launches, including major releases such as Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Subnautica 2, and Halo: Campaign Evolved.
